Russian security forces have launched a major attack in Idlib, Syria. According to the news, Russian forces carried out airstrikes in Idlib Governorate, in which 34 fighters were reported killed and more than 60 were injured.

"The Russian Aerospace Forces conducted airstrikes against the positions of illegal armed groups involved in a firefight with Syrian troops in the Idlib province," Russian agency Interex quoted Rear Admiral Vadim Kulit as saying about Saturday's attack.

Admiral Kulit said that in the last 24 hours, Russian Aerospace Forces have attacked the positions of Syrian government troops seven times. However, news agency Reuters has not verified this claim of Russia. At the same time, the Syrian army has blamed the rebels for attacks on government-held areas in Idlib and Aleppo provinces. Syria has been saying about the rebels that they are Islamic jihadists.

Meanwhile, Syrian opposition leaders say that both Moscow and the Syrian government are taking advantage of the world's preoccupation with the Gaza conflict to increase attacks in Idbil. The Idbil region is home to more than three million Syrians who refuse to live under the rule of President Bashar al-Assad.
