On the morning of April 22, there was a fire in the general coach. Using a portable fire extinguisher, the RPF constable attempted to put out the fire, but it burst out of control. The RPF staff suffered severe injuries to their face and mouth as a result. As the ambulance carried him to a private hospital, the attending physician pronounced him dead. After this accident, railroads' eyes opened. The Railways requested that all boards examine the fire extinguishers in the coaches of the trains under their division's control following this incident. In addition, the Railway Board has launched a 15-day campaign. There will be public education about fire safety from May 1 to May 15.
After this, the Railway Board directed all the railway officers to check the portable fire extinguishing equipment of their respective zones. Along with this, all railway divisions were directed to pay special attention to the purchase and maintenance of fire extinguishers for every train coach.
The Railway Board issued instructions to all zones on April 25. Along with this, the Railway Board said that the fire extinguisher should be checked. Railway Board said that every board should appoint an officer to inspect fire extinguishers as per a standard, who should get it tested through the testing agency.
The zonal railways must tighten and mandate inspection procedures and audits of internal or externalized care processes. Railway Divisions have instructed the relevant authorities to examine the fire extinguishers for any flaws or abnormalities, including their physical state, their codal life, refilling discharge test, hydraulic pressure test, and servicing due dates.
