Puducherry's only woman minister resigns, accused of conspiracy; CM refused to comment

Puducherry's only woman MLA and cabinet minister S Chandira Priyanga has resigned from the post of minister. On Tuesday, she resigned from the post alleging casteism, gender bias and money power politics. However, Chief Minister N Rangasamy has refused to comment on Minister Priyanga's resignation. On the questions asked by the journalists, the Chief Minister said that I have not called you. Chandira Priyanga has submitted her resignation to the Chief Minister's Office. Sources have confirmed the news of receiving the letter. Also told that the matter has been sent to the Chief Minister to take a decision.

She said in the letter, she reached the Assembly with the support of the people, but she has realized that it is not so easy to overcome the politics of conspiracy. She also said in the letter that she has been a victim of casteism and gender bias. Chandira Priyanga said that she would soon come out with a detailed report. He also requested Chief Minister Rangasamy that only any MLA belonging to 'Vanniyar, Dalit or minority communities' should be appointed to the ministerial post vacant after his resignation. He also said in a clear tone that any MLA willing to become a minister on the basis of money power should not be made his successor, as it would cause 'injustice' to the Vanniyar or Dalit communities.

Who is S Chandira Priyanga?
Chandira Priyanga, elected from Nedunkadu MLA in 2021, was the only woman to become a minister in Puducherry. Priyanga was given the responsibility of Transport Ministry in the Rangasamy government.
