Everything about the country is political because of the Lok Sabha elections. A recent book featuring numerous fascinating tales from Indian political history has been published in between. A campaign against his mother and the queen mother of the Gwalior royal family, Vijayaraje Scindia, is also mentioned.

Many political stories have been told in author-journalist Bhaskar Rao's book 'Fifty Year Road'. One of these is the Guna Lok Sabha election of 1989, in which Vijayaraje Scindia was in the election field, while his son Madhavrao Scindia had campaigned against his mother in that election. Whereas Madhavrao Scindia felt that his mother was under the influence of BJP and was their puppet. It has been said in the book that Vijayaraje Scindia's enmity with his son was interesting. It has been told in the book that the reason for the differences between the two was not just political. Many people say that Vijayaraje Scindia was not happy with her son Madhavrao Scindia joining Congress and she wanted Madhavrao Scindia to stay in Jan Sangh. Some say that there was a dispute between the two regarding the management of the royal family's property.

Another story in the book is about BSP founder Kanshi Ram contesting elections from Allahabad in the year 1988. Kanshi Ram had contested the 1988 Lok Sabha elections from Allahabad seat against former PM VP Singh and Sunil Shastri of Congress. That election was won by VP Singh. However, during that time, Kanshi Ram had given a slogan of one vote, one note, which became very popular. Kanshiram had said that 'big political parties are spending liquor and money like water in the elections. I appeal to each of my voters to give a one rupee note along with their vote.

Apart from these, in the book, former Andhra Pradesh CM NT Rama Rao had campaigned in Haryana in support of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal. NT Rama Rao's Hindi was not good, so no one understood the words of his speech, but everyone understood one thing, that was 'uproot Congress'.
