Namami Gange Mission is making significant progress in maintaining the purity and uninterrupted flow of the river Ganga. In the first quarter of this year, four major projects in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have been successfully completed and are now operational. These projects are proving to be a milestone for the Namami Gange Mission. This can reduce pollution in important areas along the Ganga and Ramganga rivers.

Executive Engineer (Rural) of UP Jal Nigam, Kumkum Gangwar said that all the projects have been completed two-three months ahead of schedule. Three projects sanctioned at a cost of Rs 553.21 crore have been started in Mirzapur, Ghazipur and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

Under the project, sewage treatment plants have been constructed, under which municipal wastewater, which was earlier discharged into the Ganga, is being treated here. This has cleaned not only the Ganga but also generated employment opportunities for the local people.

The new STPs have been doing a great job by improving the quality of water and reducing the pollution burden on the local communities. It drew in greater tourist and pilgrim traffic with cleaner rivers, benefitting the local economies. Other than this, the Rs 523 crore sanctioned project in Munger of Bihar was completed before time, which is serving the twin purpose of cleaning the Ganga. Efforts of Namami Gange Mission, ongoing, are directed towards the revival and protection of the Ganga River while ensuring a clean and safe environment.
