Bangalore's much-awaited and first double-decker flyover is finally ready. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that the 3.3 km road flyover from Ragigudda to Central Silk Board (CSB) is now complete. It is on the Yellow Line (RV Road - Bommasandra).

Vehicles will be allowed on the flyover from Ragigudda to CSB from June 15 after the final inspection by the officials.

The flypast has two levels. The lower level is for vehicles, while the upper level is for Namma Metro. Apart from that, BMRCL is building five ramps at CSB Junction. Ramps A, B, and C connect Ragigudda/BTM Layout with KR Puram and Hosur Road. Ramps D and E will connect KR Puram with the BTM Layout and Ragigudda. Ramps A, B, and C will open in June, and D and E will be ready in June 2025. According to media reports, this information was revealed by BMRCL's Chief Public Relations Officer, BL Yashwant Chavan.

This flyover is eight meters above the roadway. While the metro runs at a height of 16 meters. Similar road-cum-metro structures are already in use in cities like Jaipur, Nagpur and Mumbai. The new corridor from Ragigudda to CSB will be signal-free. Which will reduce traffic congestion during peak hours.

One of the busiest junctions in Bangalore, CSB Junction will also have two new metro stations. Blue Line (CSB-KR Puram) and Yellow Line (RV Road-Bommasandra). Initially planned to be integrated, the stations will now be about 355 meters apart and connected via a travelator.

According to Jagran, the Bangalore Metro will run a trial run on the entire Electronics City corridor (Yellow Line: RV Road - Bommasandra) on Thursday. It was earlier scheduled for June 7, which was postponed due to technical problems. The trial run is a crucial step towards connecting Electronics City, Bengaluru's tech hub, to the metro network. It houses companies like Infosys and Biocon.

The 18.8 km Yellow Line from RV Road to Bommasandra was originally scheduled to open in 2021. But it has been delayed to December 2024. Mainline testing by the RDSO will take four months. After which further approvals will be needed before opening to the public. The delay was mainly due to the late arrival of coaches from CRRC of China and Titagarh.
