Massive fire in apartment in Kuwait, Indian couple and their children died

Kuwait: Four members of an Indian family died in a tragic accident in Kuwait. The victim's family had returned to Kuwait on the same day after a holiday from Kerala. According to the information, a short circuit in the AC caused a fire, due to which the members died due to suffocation. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait has said that it will make arrangements to bring the bodies to India soon.

A fire broke out in an Indian family's flat in Kuwait, killing the couple and two children. The incident occurred on Friday night when the family returned from their trip to Kerala. Local officials provided this information on Saturday.

News agency PTI quoted local newspaper The Arab Times as saying that Mathew Mulakkal, a resident of Neerattupuram in Alappuzha, his wife Lini Abraham, and their two children died of suffocation after a fire broke out in their flat about 8 p.m. on Friday night. According to reports, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the air conditioner.

The newspaper reported, "The family had returned to Kuwait after a holiday in Kerala and arrived at around 4 pm local time on Friday. Mathews Mulakkal worked at Reuters, while his wife Lini Al Ahmadi was a staff nurse at the Government's Aden Hospital. Their children studied at Bhavans School in Kuwait."

Meanwhile, a relative of the deceased told the media in Kerala on Saturday, "Matthews had been working there for the last 15 years. They left for Kuwait after their holidays from Nedumbassery airport on Thursday night." The Indian Embassy in Kuwait said it is in touch with the family in Kerala and will ensure the speedy repatriation of the bodies of the four Indians.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait said in a post on X, "The Embassy @indembkwt expresses its deepest condolences on the tragic demise of Mr Mathews Mulakkal, his wife, and 2 children due to a fire in their flat in Abassia last night. The Embassy is in touch with their family and will ensure the speedy repatriation of the mortal remains."
