Kia Seltos Hybrid may enter next year, the company is making these preparations
The EV market is facing a temporary slowdown in demand while hybrid vehicles are seeing a surge in popularity. The introduction of the Kia Seltos Hybrid is in line with the company's broader electric strategy. The familiar 1.6-liter hybrid system currently used in the Hyundai Kona Hybrid is expected to be included inside the Kia Seltos Hybrid.
Kia India is going to offer its Seltos SUV a hybrid powertrain with the next-generation model. It is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2025. A media report has revealed.
The surge in hybrid vehicles comes as the EV market witnesses a temporary demand slowdown. Offering hybrid technology Seltos alongside the existing gasoline model hurts Kia's ability to meet their consumers' wider choice.
The introduction of the Kia Seltos Hybrid comes as part of the company's roadmap in electric. It aims to have an electric variant for each of its five SUV and RV models sold in Korea. Clearly, the said strategy can be extended to the Indian market, too.
Since 2019, the Kia Seltos has been ruling the roost of compact SUVs in the domestic market of India; it is suitably priced. Fuel-efficient hybrid technology could just be the cherry on top in terms of stabilizing its position within this key marketplace.
The 1.6-litre hybrid system, which is already powering the Hyundai Kona Hybrid, is likely to come with the Kia Seltos Hybrid. It develops 141 bhp of power and offers fuel economy between 18.1-19.8 kmpl.
Kia is also in the process of formulating a dedicated electronic all-wheel-drive system in an attempt to suit the Seltos Hybrid. This design was meant to improve driving performance, especially in countries like Europe, which demand all-wheel-drive rather highly.
