As scheduled, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024 will meet on September 19 and 20. Earlier, the scheduled meeting on Wednesday was postponed. JPC Chairman and BJP MP Jagdambika Pal said on Wednesday that it was postponed following the request of some members.

Speaking to reporters, Jagdambika Pal said, "The meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee was to be conducted on the 18, 19, and 20th. However, some of our members told us that on the 17th Ganesh Chaturthi and Eid-e-Milad procession is being taken out. Therefore, the meeting scheduled for today will be held as per schedule on 19 and 20th.".

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 which addresses the management, protection, and misuse of Waqf properties will be passed in Parliament in the coming days. Addressing a press conference on the first 100 days of the third term of the PM Modi government, Shah said, 'The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 is committed to the management, protection and misuse of Waqf properties. It will be passed in Parliament in the coming days.'
