State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told a briefing that about 800 Americans, lawful permanent residents, and family members had left Gaza for Egypt through the Rafah crossing and more than 1,200 US citizens remained stranded in Gaza.
"Six Americans have been killed since Hamas' October 7 attack," he said, including five Israeli soldiers – four killed in Gaza and one in northern Israel, while one was a National Police border officer.
Seventeen Palestinians were killed in an Israeli bombardment of the Nusirat camp in Gaza at midnight, Palestinian official news agency Wafa said on Tuesday.
