IPL 2023: Akash Madhwal record-breaking bowling, Mumbai beat Lucknow by 81 runs in Eliminator match  

Lucknow Super Giants vs Mumbai Indians Eliminator IPL 2023: Batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 182 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Cameron Green scored the maximum 41 runs for Mumbai. The eliminator match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 was played between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI). In this match played at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, Mumbai Indians performed brilliantly and defeated Lucknow Super Giants by a huge margin of 81 runs. With this win, Mumbai has reached the second qualifier. Where they will face the defending champions Gujarat Titans.

Akash Madhwal bowled record-breaking for Mumbai and took 5 wickets for 5 runs in 3.3 overs. With this, Madhwal has equaled the record of veteran spin bowler Anil Kumble. Kumble also took 5 wickets for just 5 runs in 2009. With this win, Mumbai's excellent performance in the playoffs continues. Mumbai has made it to the playoffs 5 times before and has won the title every time.

In this match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bat first. The way the Mumbai batsmen started, it seemed that the team would score close to 200 runs. But the excellent bowling of Naveen-ul-Haq prevented the Mumbai batsmen from doing so. Mumbai scored 182 runs losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Cameron Green scored the maximum 41 runs for Mumbai. Apart from them, Suryakumar Yadav scored 33, Tilak Verma scored 26 and Nehal Wadhera scored 23 runs. Naveen-ul-Haq took 4/38 in 4 overs for Lucknow Super Giants.

In reply, the Lucknow team was reduced to just 101 runs in 16.3 overs. Marcus Stoinis scored the maximum 40 runs for Lucknow. While Deepak Hooda scored 15 and Kyle Meyers scored 18 runs. Apart from this batsman, no other batsman could even touch the double figure. Akash Madhwal of Mumbai took five wickets. Chris Jordan and Piyush Chawla took one wicket each.
