'India's performance on the global stage is the result of quality education', PM said on the improving ranking of the university
PM Narendra Modi said it is a great pleasure to see that the universities of India are moving forward on the global stage. Our commitment to quality education is giving encouraging results. We will continue to provide our educational institutions with opportunities for support, development, and innovation.

PM Modi lauded the fact that Indian universities have remained in an ever-improving position in University Rankings 2024; he bolstered this with the superlatively intended opinion: it is because of the strenuous efforts the government is making toward quality education.
It is a matter of immense pleasure that the Universities of India are perceptibly moving ahead on the global stage, PM Modi tweeted. Our commitment to quality education yields encouraging results. We will continue to provide our educational institutions with opportunities for support, development, and innovation. This shall tremendously benefit our youth.
The Prime Minister responded to a post by Phil Batty, Chief Officer of Global Affairs, London-based Times Higher Education Rankings. Batty had said, "At a time when Indian general election results are likely to be at center stage, India's rising presence in the ranking is remarkable." This has been possible because of educational reforms and the effort of PM Modi to internationalize education. 91 Indian varsities in ranking, IISc Bangalore tops. A total of 133 universities from India applied for the 2025 ranking, whereas this number was only 42 in the 2017 ranking. According to the latest ranking, India is now the fourth country globally to have the maximum number of its representatives on this list. Also, 91 Indian universities made it into the rankings this year. Leading the pack of these institutions happens to be the Indian Institute of Science, IISc Bangalore. It has returned to the top position first since 2017. Anna University, Chennai, and Jamia Millia Islamia of Delhi occupy the following two slots.
