Indian Navy will increase combat capability in the Indo-Pacific region, Rajnath Singh said - be ready for any security challenge
In view of China's increasing interference in the Indo-Pacific region, the top commanders of the Indian Navy have decided to substantially increase their combat capability in the Indo-Pacific region. The commanders also expressed unwavering commitment to the national vision of self-reliant India. Currently, 64 ships and submarines are under construction in Indian ports and orders have been given to build 24 additional platforms.

Officials said that after threadbare deliberations at the four-day Naval Commanders' Conference held here on Friday, a decision was taken to increase the country's combat capability in the maritime sector.
Addressing the commanders, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi underscores the requirement for vigilance with respect to maritime security and coastline defense through developing close synergy and functional relationships with the Coast Guard and other maritime agencies.
According to the Navy, the Admiral called upon the command and staff at the Naval Headquarters to continue to develop a balanced multi-dimensional and seamless network-based force that is ready to respond, including protecting and promoting national maritime interests. The Navy Chief highlighted the contemporary geo-strategic scenario as well as the emerging strategy in the maritime domain.
The Navy statement said that enumerating the key areas for the force in the short, medium, and long term, he reiterated the need to ensure that all naval platforms, equipment, weapons, and sensors are combat-ready with the sole objective of 'delivering ordnance to the target'.
The commanders also expressed unwavering commitment to the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Currently, 64 ships and submarines are under construction in Indian ports and orders have been given for the construction of 24 additional platforms.
In his address, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh appealed to the commanders to always be prepared to deal with any security challenge in view of the rapidly changing global scenario. He also underlined the need to increase India's overall naval power. The commanders discussed the overall situation related to the Red Sea and surrounding areas.
