Team India has reached the top in the points table of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. The Indian team got the first position due to New Zealand's defeat against Australia. The first match of the two-Test series between New Zealand and Australia was played in Wellington. Australia won this match by 172 runs. With the loss of the match, the Kiwi team has slipped from first to second place in the WTC points table.

Before the Wellington Test, the New Zealand team was on top of the WTC points table with 75 per cent marks. Whereas, Team India was in second place with 64.58 per cent marks. Now after this defeat, the Kiwi team has slipped to second place with 60 percent points and India has occupied the number one position.

Australia is in third place in the points table of the World Test Championship 2023-25, which now has 59.09 per cent points after this victory. The Indian team has an unassailable 3-1 lead in the 5-match Test series. Now the last test between India and England will be played in Dharamshala. If India wins this match, it will further strengthen its first position in the WTC points table.

Australia batted first after losing the toss and scored 383 runs in the first innings with the help of Cameron Green's 174* runs. In response, the New Zealand team was reduced to just 179 runs in the first innings. Australia got a lead of 204 runs based on the first innings.

However, host New Zealand bowled out Australia's second innings for just 164 runs. Chasing the target of 369 runs, New Zealand collapsed for 196 runs and Australia won the match by 172 runs.
