India and Russia will jointly make military equipment under Made in India, said this on Chennai-Vladivostok route
Addressing reporters after meeting Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that both the countries have agreed on the production of military equipment under Made in India.

Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is on a five-day visit to Russia. During this, he also interacted with people of Indian communities. He also held bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. During this period, issues related to economic, political and cultural were discussed in the talks. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday expressed willingness to support India's initiative to produce military products under Made in India. Lavrov said that during the meeting, many steps have been taken in this regard, which will expand cooperation between India and Russia. Emphasis has also been laid on the establishment of Chennai-Vladivostok route under the international transport corridor.
Discussion on military and technical cooperation- Lavrov
Addressing journalists after the meeting with Jaishankar, Lavrov said that we discussed the prospects of joint production of modern weapons, which includes military and technical cooperation. He said that we have a special skill in this field. The cooperation between the two countries is of strategic nature. It is in the interests of both nations to deepen cooperation. At the same time, all this matches the security interests of the Eurasian continent.
Emphasis on strengthening energy cooperation- Lavrov
Addressing journalists, he said that you all know that we respect the desire of our Indian partners to diversify their military and technological ties. Therefore we support producing military products under the Made in India programme. In the meeting we reaffirmed our aspiration to strengthen energy cooperation. Lavrov said that I and my counterpart Jaishankar also agreed to expand the legal framework of relations between the two countries. Today we have taken several steps in this regard, which include cooperation on the expansion of the Northern Sea Route.
Intensification of relations between the two countries, promise of cooperation in many fields
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that India and Russia relations are very close. These relations are based on strategic convergence and geopolitical interests. It is time to discuss political cooperation on many international issues including BRICS. We appreciated the fact of the two countries existing. India and Russia did a trade of 50 billion dollars last year. Hopefully we will cross this figure next year. Trade between the two countries is more balanced, it is sustainable and it provides fair market access. Also said that we have agreed that negotiations for a free trade agreement between India and the Eurasian Economic Union will be resumed in the second half of January this year.
