In the first phase, 46 candidates are millionaires and two have no money, 11% women got tickets.

In Chhattisgarh, 233 candidates are trying their luck in the first phase. Of these, 26 candidates (12 percent) have criminal cases registered against them. And 12 candidates (seven percent) have serious criminal cases registered against them.

Campaigning is at its peak in Chhattisgarh assembly elections. The first phase of voting is to be held in the state on November 7 and the second phase on November 17. Meanwhile, the Association for Democratic Reparations (ADR) has published a report on the affidavits filed by the first phase candidates. According to the report released on Friday, a total of 233 candidates are in the fray for 20 seats in the first phase.

How many candidates are tainted?
Out of 233 candidates contesting in this phase, 26 candidates (12 percent) have criminal cases registered against them. And 12 candidates (seven percent) have serious criminal cases registered against them.

BJP gave tickets to the most tainted people
The most tainted candidates are from BJP. Five out of 20 BJP candidates have criminal cases registered against them, four of them have serious criminal cases. Four out of 10 AAP candidates are tainted, including one facing a serious criminal case. Case is pending against three out of 15 candidates of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) party, out of which two are facing serious criminal cases. Criminal cases are pending against two Congress candidates.

How many crorepati candidates are in the fray?
Out of the 233 candidates contesting in the first phase in 2023, 21 percent i.e. 46 candidates are crorepatis. If we talk about the average wealth of all these candidates, it is Rs 1.34 crore. There are 11 candidates whose assets are worth Rs 5 crore or more. The wealth of 18 candidates is between two to five crores. 38 candidates with assets between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 2 crore are in the fray. The number of candidates whose wealth is between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 50 lakh is 50. 106 candidates have assets worth less than Rs 10 lakh.

BJP gave tickets to most millionaires
In the first phase, 17 Congress candidates are crorepatis. 14 BJP candidates are crorepatis. Out of total 10 candidates of Aam Aadmi Party, three are crorepatis. Whereas two candidates of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) have wealth of more than Rs 1 crore.

The richest candidate in the first phase is AAP's Khadgraj Singh from Kawardha seat. Khadagraj's total assets are Rs 40 crores. At second place is BJP's Bhavana Bohra from Pandaria, whose assets are worth Rs 33 crore. At the same time, Jatin Jaiswal of Congress is the third richest candidate from Jagdalpur. Jatin's total assets are Rs 16 crores.

Two candidates in the first phase do not have any property
An interesting data has also emerged from the ADR report, according to which, among the candidates contesting in the first phase, there are two candidates in the fray who do not have any property. However, there are no candidates from parties like BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party or BTP in this list. Azad Janata Party's Parvati Teta from Kanker and Nagesh Puram, candidate from Mohla Manpur, have said that they do not have any property.

How educated are the candidates?
Of the 233 candidates trying their luck in the first phase of elections, 115 i.e. 52 percent have studied from fifth to twelfth class. 97 candidates (43 percent) have completed graduation or above. 5 candidates are diploma holders. Four candidates have declared themselves literate while one has declared themselves illiterate. Apart from these, one candidate has not declared his educational qualification.

How old are the candidates?
Among the first phase candidates, 103 i.e. 46 percent are in the age group of 25 to 40. The age of 98 i.e. 44 percent is between 41 to 60. At the same time, the age of 22 i.e. 10 percent is between 61 to 80. Of the total 233 candidates, 25 i.e. 11 percent are women.
