High-speed driving has caused havoc in Sikkim. A truck unexpectedly crashed into a Tambola gathering at Ranipool in the state's Gangtok district last evening, killing three people. In addition, twenty individuals were hurt in the truck accident and are being treated at Manipal Hospital.

The Tambola programme was taking place in Ranipur at about 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, according to Gangtok District Magistrate Tushar Nikhare, who provided information about the incident. After a truck entered the programme, roughly twenty patients were admitted to the hospital and three people died as a result. Everyone is being watched right now.

DM Tushar said that full medical attention is being given to the patients. The DM said that it is hoped that we will not allow the number of deaths to increase. Sikkim government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased.

DM said, "Under the direction of the Chief Minister, the Government of Sikkim has already announced that Rs. 5 lakh will be paid from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. All the expenses of the patient undergoing treatment in Manipal will also be borne by the state government. If any serious patient is admitted to the state hospital, If one has to be referred outside, the treatment of which cannot be available here, the expenses for the same will also be borne by the state government.”

DM Nikhare further said that the matter is being fully investigated. He said that we would give complete information after getting the details according to the police officials.

The accident vehicle was registered with Sikkim Milk Union. The DM said that, as per initial reports of Jagran, the vehicle is no longer linked to the association and had already been auctioned.

Responding to questions regarding the timing of the fair, the DM gave and assured that the details were being reviewed by the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP).
