High Court notice to Chief Minister Gehlot: Answer sought on the statement of the lawyers who wrote the judgement, on what basis the statement was given

High Court notice to Chief Minister Gehlot

The High Court on Saturday issued a notice to CM Ashok Gehlot for alleging corruption in the Judiciary. The High Court has sought an answer on what basis he made the statements. The High Court has issued a notice on a PIL filed by advocate Shivcharan Gupta.

After Gehlot's statement, a PIL was filed against him on Friday and an early hearing was requested. The High Court has asked Gehlot the basis of the statement of corruption in the courts and bringing the judgments of the lawyers in writing.

After Gehlot's statement, the petition filed in the High Court argued that the CM had given a statement lowering the reputation of the lawyers along with the judges. Gehlot has committed contempt of court, so action should be taken against the CM for contempt of court. The lawyers' movement was also cited in the petition.

The lawyer said – contempt of court action should be taken against Gehlot
Advocate Shivcharan Gupta, who filed the PIL in the High Court, said that the Chief Minister's statement has tarnished the reputation of the Judiciary. This statement of Gehlot comes under the definition of contempt of court, so the High Court should take cognizance under Article 215 of the Constitution and punish the contemnor.

After the controversy over the statement, Gehlot had tweeted giving clarification. Gehlot wrote – What I said about the corruption of Judiciary is not my personal opinion. I have always respected and trusted the judiciary. From time to time, many retired judges of the Supreme Court and even the retired Chief Justice have commented on corruption in the Judiciary, expressed concern over it.

I have so much faith in the judiciary that I have never made any adverse comment even on the names of the High Court Collegium that come to us for comments for the appointment of judges as Chief Minister. I clearly believe that every person should respect the judiciary and have faith in the judiciary. This will strengthen democracy.

Gehlot had told the media in Jaipur on August 31 that there is rampant corruption in the Judiciary today. I have heard that some lawyers take away the judgment in writing, the same judgment comes. What is happening inside the Judiciary? Be it lower judiciary or upper. The situation is serious. Countrymen should think.
