Government gave new update regarding CAA, a new initiative will be started for minority victim applicants
The central government on Monday issued a notification regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). With this, CAA came into force across the country and now on Wednesday the government has given a new update regarding CAA. The government is about to launch a big initiative to help the illegal immigrants of Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist and Christian communities from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

The central government on Monday issued a notification regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). With this, CAA came into force across the country and now on Wednesday the government has given a new update regarding CAA. The government is soon going to release a helpline number, through which minority migrant applicants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be able to get any kind of information regarding CAA.
The Home Ministry said that a helpline number will soon be launched to assist applicants for Indian citizenship under CAA. In such a situation, to get information related to CAA-2019, applicants will be able to call the toll-free number from anywhere in India. However, this facility will be available from 8 am to 8 pm.
Across the nation, the Citizenship Amendment Act went into effect. The government had paved the way for illegal immigrants from the Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist, and Christian communities in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh by amending the Citizenship Amendment Act, of 1955. On December 9, 2019, the government presented this bill to the Lok Sabha, and that same day, the Lok Sabha passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
On December 11, 2019, two days after it was passed by the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha approved it, and the President gave his approval the very next day.
