In the team that PM Modi mentioned, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant has played an important role. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also praised him for this.
Ukraine war was the most difficult part of the manifesto
Sherpa wrote on social media platform After this the manifesto of the G20 summit was passed. Amitabh Kant said that during this period two officers Nagraj Naidu and Eenam Gambhir fully supported him.
All 83 paragraphs passed unanimously
Amitabh Kant said- When we started the presidency of G20, PM Modi had said that India's presidency should bring everyone together which can give some decisive results. There are a total of 83 paragraphs in the New Delhi Declaration and there is 100% agreement on all of them.
Apart from this, 8 paragraphs focus on geopolitical issues with the titles of Planet, People, Peace and Prosperity. All the members have agreed on these also. All countries have unanimously supported the New Delhi Leaders Declaration. There is neither a footnote nor a chair summary in this paper. This is a complete statement with 100 percent consensus.
However, on this declaration, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said – there is nothing to be proud of in this. If we had attended the summit, people would have been able to get correct information about the situation.
G20's first joint declaration after Russia-Ukraine war
The consensus of all the countries on the joint manifesto is special because there was no consensus among the member countries regarding the Russia-Ukraine war in the manifesto issued at the Indonesia Summit in November 2022. Russia and China then distanced themselves from the comments made about the war. Then the written dissent of these countries was included along with the declaration.
After the declaration was passed, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had said – All countries accepted the New Delhi Declaration. He admitted that G20 is not a platform to discuss political issues. Therefore, important issues related to the economy were discussed. Ukraine war has been mentioned 4 times in this manifesto.

Who are the G20 Sherpas?
Sherpas from all the member countries represent their respective countries during the G20 conference. Just as Sherpas helped Hillary to climb Everest, similarly Sherpas help the leaders of their country during the G20 also. Sherpas inform all the member countries about the policy decisions of their country. The post of Sherpa is equivalent to that of an ambassador. Sherpas are appointed by the governments of the member countries.
Be it the G20 summit or the meetings of its other working groups, all these are planned by the Sherpas of the member countries. During the program, their work ranges from coordination between domestic and foreign guests to making all the member countries aware of the policy decisions of their country.
Before the meetings between the big leaders, Sherpas of all the member countries discuss among themselves on this issue. At this level, agreements and disagreements between all the countries are resolved, so that in the meeting of big leaders, the only work is to seal the agenda.
