Today, on 26 January 2024, on the occasion of Indian Republic Day, French President Emmanuel Macron has made a big announcement. Macron has tweeted and announced to provide a facility for 30,000 Indian students to study in French universities by 2030. He said that this is a very ambitious goal, but I am committed to achieving it. French President Macron is the chief guest on the occasion of India's Republic Day 2024.

Macron said on X (formerly Twitter) that we are opening a new way to learn French in public schools. New centres will be opened to teach French. This campaign has been named 'French for All, French for a Better Future'. We are creating international classes for students who want to study in our universities. In this, French will be taught to the students. He also said that we will provide a convenient visa process to those Indian students who have studied in France.

Emmanuel Macron said in his post that coming to France means making a better career. Today we have 35 universities in the QS rankings. Also, there are 15 universities in the Times Higher Education Ranking. India and France have a lot to do together in the future. We will achieve this with the youth, with cooperation and trust. Earlier, France had targeted to invite 20,000 Indian students by 2025.

The French government has already taken several steps to make studying in France easier for Indian students. In 2018, the French government started a program called “Campus France”. Under this, information and assistance were provided to Indian students wishing to study in France. The number of Indian students studying in France has increased by 20 per cent since its launch.

Relations between India and France have been strong for the last several decades. France was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with India soon after independence in 1947. France was one of the first to sign a nuclear deal with India. Relations between the two countries have become stronger in the last 10 years. 25 years ago in 1998, the two countries established a strategic partnership.
