Air India: Air India's plane has successfully landed at Port Blair airport for the first time at night on INS Utkrosh.

This Airbus A321 of Air India landed on the premises of INS Utkrosh in the evening on Friday. There were 68 passengers on board this plane. INS Utkrosh is under Andaman and Nicobar Command. It is located on the premises of Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair. It was the first night landing at this airport. Air India's plane has smoothly landed here for the first time.

According to Air India, the plane took off from Kolkata at 5:40 pm and reached Port Blair at 7:34 pm. A statement from Andaman and Nicobar Command said, "The plane was moved towards Veer Savarkar International Terminal for disembarking the passengers," he said.

This successful night landing, according to the officials of Andaman Nicobar Command, is quite a gigantic stride toward augmenting air connectivity to the Andamans and Nicobar Islands and shall benefit islanders besides resulting in increased tourist inflows.

This historic event has come out due to the relentless efforts the Indian Navy, Andaman and Nicobar Command, and Airports Authority of India have been making during the last few years." They also said, "AAL has upgraded the Instrument Landing System installed at Veer Savarkar International Airport to CAT-I to cater to the expected increased tourist traffic.  Utkrosh Airfield is fully capable of handling day and night operations. Besides the strategic importance of these developments, it is a massive step in terms of regional connectivity and liberalizing the 'Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik' scheme,\" said a senior official of the Andaman and Nicobar Command.
