Dhirubhai wanted to help Bachchan in his bad times.
The money was enough to wipe out all the debts, Big B had denied this. Superstar Amitabh Bachchan went bankrupt in the 90s. At that time his production company Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL) was running in huge losses. At that time, Reliance Industries owner Dhirubhai Ambani had offered to help him.
They were giving so much money that all the debts of Big B would be wiped off. Although Amitabh Bachchan refused to take that money. Big B gradually cleared all the debts, although he could never forget Dhirubhai's offer of help.
My bank balance became zero, bungalow was about to be confiscated
In 2017, an event was organized to mark the completion of 40 years of Reliance Foundation. In the same event, Amitabh Bachchan had said this while remembering Dhirubhai Ambani. He also became very emotional.
Recalling the incident, Big B said- There came a phase in my life when my bank balance became zero. My company had suffered a huge loss. Money had stopped coming from everywhere. The government had also issued a notice to confiscate my bungalow.
Dhirubhai said- He is going through bad times, give him some money.
Big B further said- When Dhirubhai came to know about my condition, he sent his younger son Anil to me. Dhirubhai told Anil that he was going through a bad time, give him some money. They were giving such an amount that all my troubles could go away.
I became emotional, although I told him that I respected his generosity, but I could not accept this help. After some time I started getting work again. Gradually I paid off all the debts.
Dhirubhai had increased the respect of Big B in front of everyone in the party.
Amitabh Bachchan finally said- One day I had gone to Dhirubhai's house to attend a party. He was sitting with big businessmen and industry people. He called me to him. He said in front of everyone – Look, this boy had fallen, but stood back up on his own strength. Today I respect it a lot. These words of Dhirubhai meant more to me than that amount of money.
Big B formed the company in 1995, incurred losses in one year

There was no money even to pay salaries to the employees

After that, creditors started gathering at his house. The situation reached such a stage that he had to mortgage his second bungalow 'Prateeksha'. Big B was very worried. He could not even sleep at night.
