Heavy rains have continued to wreak havoc in the hilly states for the past few days. Heavy rains and landslides are causing a lot of damage in Himachal. Several landslides and cloudburst incidents are coming to the fore in the state. The death toll in the rain and landslide incidents has risen to 56. At least eight houses collapsed and a slaughterhouse was buried under debris after a landslide in the Krishna Nagar area of Shimla. Two persons have died in this incident. According to the Meteorological Department, this hill state does not seem to get relief in the coming days. For the next few days, rain warnings have been issued in many districts of the state.

The education department, in an order, said that all schools and colleges in the state will remain closed for a day on August 16 due to bad weather. Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that two bodies have been recovered in the latest landslide. More than 10 people are still feared trapped in the Shiv temple accident that took place on Monday.

Heavy rains are continuing in Himachal Pradesh for the last few days. The concrete bridge near Summer Hill, about six kilometers before Shimla, was completely destroyed and the heritage rail route was damaged in five or six places, with the maximum damage occurring between Shimla and Shoghi. As per a report, 11 out of 12 districts in the state have blocked 857 roads and 4,285 transformers, and 889 water supply schemes. The state has suffered a loss of Rs 7,171 crore in this monsoon season.

A total of 170 incidents of cloud bursts and landslides have been reported during the monsoon. During this, 9,600 houses have been partially or completely damaged. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that due to an increase of about 157 percent in rainfall in the last few days, the entire Himachal Pradesh has suffered more damage.
