A 32-year-old pregnant nurse in Bengaluru, Karnataka, was subjected to stalking, sexual harassment, and physical assault by an SUV driver while she was heading back from work last week. Following her complaint, a 26-year-old man was arrested by the police for the incident that unfolded near the Electronics City area.
The nurse detailed that the accused propositioned her with an offer of Rs 1 lakh for 'each hour spent with him,' before proceeding to inappropriately touch her. In response, the pregnant nurse, who is approximately six months along, slapped the perpetrator.
Reacting to her slap, the assailant retaliated by striking her in the face and ear before speeding away, resulting in the victim sustaining a nosebleed. Despite her injuries, she reached out to a colleague for assistance and courageously made her way to the Electronics City police station to file a formal complaint.
Promptly after receiving the complaint, the Electronics City police initiated an investigation and managed to apprehend the suspect, identified as Avinash, a resident of Kammasandra near Hebbagodi. Avinash, employed as a driver with a private firm, now faces charges of sexual harassment and stalking. He has been placed in judicial custody, as stated by a senior official.
The distressing incident reportedly unfolded on July 29 near the Konappana Agrahara BMTC bus stop, when the nurse was returning home from her workplace at a healthcare center.
