Ban on bursting of firecrackers at religious places, Kerala High Court said - to please God...
The Kerala High Court has banned bursting of firecrackers at religious places during dusk and asked authorities to conduct raids to recover illegally stored firecrackers.
Due to the continuously increasing air pollution in the country, many states including Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana have banned the bursting of firecrackers. Now Kerala's name has also been added to this list. The Kerala High Court on Friday banned bursting of firecrackers at religious places during odd hours and asked authorities to conduct raids to recover illegally stored firecrackers. Justice Rawal said in his order that contempt proceedings will be initiated if the court order is violated. Let us tell you that even before Diwali, air pollution in the country's capital Delhi has reached serious levels.
Hearing a petition seeking the intervention of the Kerala High Court to stop the bursting of firecrackers at religious places in Kerala, the court directed to issue instructions to sub-collectors, and police commissioners in Cochin and other districts that henceforth no Crackers will also not be burnt. The court also said that this court had also heard the noise of firecrackers even after midnight.
The petitioners said that only some temples have explosives licenses. He has argued that such licenses should not be given to the District Collector. The bursting of firecrackers not only causes noise and air pollution but also disturbs the peace.
The court, while hearing the petition, said that prima facie there is no order in any religious book to burst crackers to please God. The High Court has given this decision on a petition seeking intervention to stop the bursting of firecrackers at all religious places in Kerala.
