Assam TMC president leaves party, writes two-page letter to Abhishek Banerjee; blames Mamata
Assam TMC president Resign: Ripun Bora resigned by writing a two-page letter to All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Bora said in his resignation letter that Assam TMC has a lot of potential but several recurring issues have hindered our progress including TMC being considered as a regional party of West Bengal.

Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC) president Ripun Bora on Sunday resigned from the party. He claimed that the people of the northeastern state consider it a "regional party" of West Bengal and are not ready to accept it as their own.
He sent his resignation to TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in the form of a two-page letter. Bora, in his resignation letter, said, "Assam TMC has immense potential, but some recurring issues hindered our progress and those include TMC being treated as a regional party of West Bengal.".
Bora, a former Rajya Sabha member, said that he had made a number of suggestions to the party supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to make TMC acceptable in Assam, but they were not implemented.
He claimed that he had suggested the need for an Assamese leader at the national level of TMC, declaring Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's residence in Tollygunge, Kolkata as a heritage site, and converting Madhupur Satra in Cooch Behar into a cultural center, but nothing happened.
Despite my repeated efforts to meet you and our chief Mamata Didi in the last one-and-a-half years for the purpose of raising these issues, it has not been possible," said Bora, the former minister in Assam.
Bora said he has served as State President of Assam TMC for more than two years and during that period, he communicated with the people across the state as much as possible.
