Amul scales new peak in America GANDHINAGAR: Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, which sells dairy products under Amul, is eyeing product diversification in the American market after testing fresh milk with the Michigan Milk Producers Association.
This was informed by a top official on Friday. GCMMFL Managing Director Jayen Mehta added: "There is good demand for fresh products. We will soon expand with other products like curd, lassi buttermilk, cream, and cheese.".
Addressing the 116th Annual General Meeting of the industry body Indian Merchants Chamber as the chief guest, Mehta also said milk has become India's largest agricultural crop, and the country will account for one-third of global milk production in the next decade.
The company, GCMMF, has introduced four milk varieties in the US to service the Indian expatriate and Asian populations. "We will soon expand to Canada; we are also looking at other markets in the world," Mehta said. He said that the federation is eyeing expansion in every single category of products. While addressing the AGM, IMC President Sanjay Mariwala said the chamber will continue to exercise a strong role in policy advocacy, shape the industry's response, and join hands with the government for implementation in a spirit of partnership.
