All Indians aboard hijacked ship off Somalia coast evacuated safely, four warships deployed in Arabian Sea

An Indian Navy warship has reached the hijacked cargo ship MV Leela Norfolk off the coast of Somalia. Indian Navy warship INS Chennai has approached the hijacked ship MV Leela Norfolk off the Somalia coast, military officials said. The Indian military officer said that the hijacked ship is being monitored through helicopters.

All crew, including 15 Indians, aboard the hijacked ship MV Leela Norfolk off the Somalia coast have been rescued and are safe. Indian military officials said naval commandos were conducting search operations in other parts of the ship.

At the same time, Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar has issued instructions to Indian warships operating in the Arabian Sea to take the strictest action against pirates. Along with this, four warships of the Indian Navy have been deployed in the Arabian Sea to prevent attacks on merchant ships in the region.

Let us tell you that a Liberian flagged cargo ship was hijacked in the Arabian Sea near the coast of Somalia. There were 15 Indians in the crew of this ship named MV Leela Norfolk. As soon as the information was received, the Indian Navy sent its warship INS Chennai to free the ship and on Friday afternoon it reached close to the hijacked ship.

INS Chennai stops hijacked ship
Earlier, information was received that INS Chennai has intercepted the hijacked ship and Navy's Marcos commandos have landed on MV Leela. These commandos have started action in the ship. Earlier, Navy patrol aircraft searched the hijacked ship on Friday morning and the aircraft established contact with the ship.

Action started after receiving information
The hijacking of this ship was reported on Thursday by Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), an organization working under the British Army. After this, the Indian Navy actively searched for the ship and found it in the sea on Friday morning.

A Navy spokesperson said that the ship's crew had sent a distress message to the UKMTO on Thursday evening informing them that five-six armed unidentified people had come on board the ship and were trying to capture the ship.

Indian Navy showed readiness
As soon as the Indian Navy received this information, it became active and started searching for the hijacked ship. Navy spokesperson has said that the situation is being dealt with utmost seriousness. For this, cooperation of other agencies working in the area is also being taken. The Navy is determined to maintain safe movement of ships in this sea route.
