A lot of hassle had to be faced by the passengers after the emergency landing of the Air India plane going from Delhi to America at Krasnoyarsk International Airport, Russia. There was no proper food and water made available to the passengers who got off the plane at the airport. The passengers posted on X requesting help from Air India. An Air India flight has reportedly been sent to Mumbai to take back the passengers. Further, officials from the Indian Consulate are currently cooperating with Russian officials and have arranged hotels for those passengers who have been waiting at airports.
Thursday night saw the plane flying from Delhi to America diverting and landing in Russia. According to Air India, flight number AI-183 was diverted to Krasnoyarsk International Airport, KJA, in Russia, after the cockpit crew detected a technical fault in the cargo hold area, and the plane was landed safely. There were 225 passengers and 19 crew members in the plane who have been taken to the terminal building at KJA after safe landing.
Due to not having a Russian visa, the passengers could not go even to the hotel. They had to spend the night at the airport itself. The situation was such that the passengers neither got food nor water. Many passengers looked upset due to this. The passengers said that there is no Air India staff at the airport. In such a situation, no help is available here. Because the Indian currency does not work here, passengers are unable to purchase anything at this airport.
Complaining to Air India, Mayank Gupta posted on Instagram, "My 70-year-old mother is traveling in the flight. She remains ill. She had taken medicines and some snacks with her, but her luggage is in the flight itself. They are not getting any help.".
Another passenger posted on X stating that the passengers slept at the airport itself. With no possibility of getting a visa, they could not get a hotel in Russia. Air India should provide immediate help. Air India has dispatched a flight from Mumbai at 11 am to Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Russia to help the passengers. Air India said it has received approval for the relief flight. According to Air India, facilities of food and water have been restored at the terminal. Also, the Indian Embassy is working in coordination with the Russian authorities to shift the passengers to the hotel.
