The Modi government has decided to build three crore new houses in villages and cities under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PM Awas Yojana) on the very first working day of its third term. Of these, two crore houses are for villages and one crore for cities.

The first cabinet meeting of the third term (PM Modi Cabinet Meeting) was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, and it was resolved to aid in the construction of three crore new residences through the initiative. Ministers from all NDA allies attended the meeting, which was held at the Prime Minister's official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. PM Awas Yojana is a key program of the Modi government.

Since its inception in 2015-16, this project has built and allotted 4.21 crore dwellings in towns and rural. The most notable characteristic of these residences is that they include all of the necessary basic facilities such as a toilet, electrical connection, tap water, and an LPG connection. These facilities are provided by linking other schemes with the PM Awas Yojana.

The decision to build three crore new houses was taken in view of the increasing number of eligible families in villages and cities. By taking such a decision in the very first meeting, the Prime Minister made it clear what the direction of his government would be in the third term as well. It is worth noting that while presenting the interim budget this year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the construction of two crore new houses in the next five years under the PM Awas Yojana Gramin.

After taking charge for the third consecutive time, the Modi government took the first decision in favor of farmers on Monday. Immediately after taking charge the very next day of the swearing-in, the file related to the release of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi was signed, showing commitment to the farmers. This is the 17th installment of the scheme and under this, about Rs 20 thousand crore will be distributed among the farmers. There are about 14 crore farmer families in the country. More than nine crore 30 lakh farmer families are associated with this scheme.

After signing the related file, the Prime Minister said that our government is fully committed to farmer welfare. Therefore, it is appropriate that the first file signed after taking charge is related to farmer welfare. We want to do more work for farmers and the agriculture sector in the coming time.

Under the scheme, six thousand rupees are given to the eligible farmers of the country every year in three equal installments. So far, more than three lakh crore rupees have been transferred directly to the farmers' accounts in 16 installments. The Prime Minister released its 16th installment from Yavatmal in Maharashtra on February 28 this year.
