The entire security of Parliament House, the country's biggest symbol of democracy, was handed over to CISF with effect from Monday. A team of over 3,300 CISF personnel has been deployed to provide armed security to the Parliament complex. Also, 29 officers will be deployed to lead this team.

According to Amar Ujala, this contingent of 3,317 personnel will be headed by 29 officers. These officers would include one Deputy Director General, one Senior Commandant, two Commandants, seven Deputy Commandants, and 18 Assistant Commandants. Two of these officers will belong to the fire wing. As per sources, the army has also included fire combat units in the security of the Parliament complex.

Subsequent to the withdrawal of 1,400 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force, 3,317 personnel of CISF have completely taken over the responsibility of anti-terrorism and other security duties. Following the incident of lapse in Parliament security on December 13 last year, the government decided to hand over this responsibility to CISF instead of CRPF. On 13 December 2023, two persons jumped from the visitors' gallery into the Lok Sabha during Zero Hour. Almost on the same day, two other persons also sprayed colored smoke from canisters while raising slogans outside the Parliament complex.

CISF took responsibility for the security of the Parliament complex since May-June, and on Tuesday, an official order in this regard was issued. Before July 22, when the proceedings of Parliament are to take place, the CISF team would be fully deployed for armed security of the complex. All in all, the security ring of Parliament House is going to be very strong now. The CISF personnel have been given training in baggage checking, personal search, detection and disposal of explosive material, anti-terrorist quick response, accurate shooting, and public interaction and etiquette before deployment. Before taking over the complete security responsibility of Parliament, CISF personnel also conducted regular exercises in the premises. Male and female personnel of the force managing the reception area have been given new uniforms consisting of light blue full sleeve shirt and brown pants in addition to safari suits.
