Google has given a big shock to Indian users by making YouTube Premium plans expensive. YouTube Premium plans have become costlier by up to 58 percent for Indian users. The cost of all three types of YouTube Premium plans—student, family, and private—has been increased. Now, the base price of the student monthly plan for YouTube Premium has been hiked from Rs 79 to Rs 89, an increase of about 12.6%. The private plan, on the other hand, starts from Rs 149, from its earlier Rs 129; meaning it is now increased by 15%.
The family monthly plan's new price is now Rs 299, up from Rs 189 per plan earlier. The cost of YouTube Premium's family monthly plan surged by 58% in an increased format after the new update. The plan can be used by 5 members.
The new plans are targeted at both new and current customers. A user who signs up for YouTube Premium gets ad-free, offline downloads, background play, and ad-free music on YouTube.
