The eyewitness has identified Yasin Malik in the case of an attack on Air Force soldiers. After this, the troubles of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik may increase. Former Air Force personnel Rajwar Umeshwar Singh, while testifying in the special court of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Jammu on Thursday, said that Yasin Malik picked up his 'Pheran', took out the weapon and opened fire on the group of Indian Air Force personnel.

Four Air Force personnel, including Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna, were killed and 40 were injured in the attack on January 25, 1990, in Rawalpura, Srinagar. Umeshwar Singh survived the attack. He described Malik as the main attacker in the court. In this case, the CBI had filed the charge sheet before the TADA court in Jammu on August 31, 1990. This includes Yasin Malik, Ali Mohammad Mir, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi alias Mustafa, Javed Ahmed Mir alias 'Nalka', Shaukat Ahmed Bakshi, Javed Ahmed Zargar and Nanaji. Malik joined the court proceedings via video from Delhi's Tihar Jail, where he has been imprisoned since 2019.

CBI senior public prosecutor Monica Kohli offered Malik to cross-examine the eyewitnesses, but he refused. Malik is insisting to be produced physically in the court. A case of the kidnapping of Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 1989 is also going on against Malik.
