WTC final: Head-Smith's excellent partnership, Australia added 170 runs till tea
India vs Australia World Test championship final 2nd Session: Australia has scored 170 runs by losing three wickets till tea time. In the second session after lunch, Australia scored 97 runs in 28 overs and lost only one wicket. Only Labushen was out in this session.
The final match of the World Test Championship (WTC) is being played between India and Australia at The Oval ground in London. The second session of the first day of this match has come to an end. The Australian batsmen have been in fine form to put pressure on the Indian bowlers, losing just one wicket in the session.
At launch, Australia was 73 for the loss of two wickets. After this, only one wicket fell for the Kangaroo team and they added 97 runs. Steve Smith and Travis Head are at the crease for Australia. Australia got a big blow in the second over after lunch. In his very first over after lunch, Mohammed Shami cleaned up Marnus Labuschagne. He could score 26 runs in 62 balls. He hit three fours in his innings.
After this, Travis Head came to support Steve Smith. Head continued his fine form with a half-century. He scored the 14th half-century of his Test career in just 60 balls. Currently, he is playing on 60 off 75 balls. Apart from him, Steve Smith has scored 33 runs off 102 balls.
Earlier, Australia had a very bad start in the final of the World Test Championship. The first wicket of the Kangaroo team fell on the score of two runs. Usman Khawaja, the highest run-scorer in the current cycle of the World Test Championship, was dismissed without opening the account. Khawaja faced 10 balls and Mohammad Siraj got him caught by wicketkeeper Shrikar Bharat.
After this David Warner and Marnus Labushen handled Australia's innings. Both added 69 runs for the second wicket. Then Australia's second wicket fell on the score of 71 runs. Shardul Thakur sent David Warner to the pavilion. Warner scored 43 runs in 60 balls with the help of eight fours. Wicketkeeper Shrikar Bharat caught his catch on the ball of Shardul.
