WPL 2024: BCCI issues request proposal for organizing the opening ceremony, know complete details

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited bids from reputed entities to acquire the rights and obligations of the opening ceremony of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 season. The procedure for receiving the RFP documents is listed in Annexure A of the tender notice. The RFP will be available for procurement till January 29, 2024. Interested parties are requested to email the details of payment made for procurement of RFP as per the procedure prescribed in Annexure A to RFP@BCCI.TV. It is clarified that the RFP documents will be shared only upon confirmation of payment of the non-refundable RFP fee.
The detailed terms and conditions governing the tender process including eligibility requirements, procedure for submission of bids, rights and obligations etc. are contained in the 'Request for Proposal' ("RFP") which is for a sum of Rs 1,00,000 (only one Lakh Indian Rupees) will be provided upon receipt of payment of non-refundable fee and any applicable Goods and Services Tax.
Any interested party wishing to submit a bid is required to purchase the RFP. However, only those meeting the eligibility criteria prescribed in the RFP and subject to other terms and conditions stipulated therein will be eligible to bid. It is clarified that the mere purchase of an RFP does not entitle any person to bid. BCCI reserves the right to cancel or modify the bidding process at any stage without assigning any reason.
IANS had earlier reported that WPL 2024 is expected to be hosted by New Delhi and Bengaluru. The inaugural edition of the WPL was held from March 4-26 2023 at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai and DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. In WPL 2023, the 22 matches were divided into 11 matches each for Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium to host.
Each team will play the other four teams twice. The table-topper of the league stage will enter directly into the finals. The teams finishing second and third in the points table will face each other in the eliminator to decide who will face the table-toppers in the title match.
The WPL will be contested between five teams – defending champions Mumbai Indians, runners-up Delhi Capitals, UP Warriors, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Giants. The inaugural WPL trophy was won by Harmanpreet Kaur-captained Mumbai Indians, who defeated Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals by seven wickets at the Brabourne Stadium.
