In their third and last Pool B encounter of the FIH Hockey 5s Men's World Cup 2024, the Indian men's hockey team excelled, defeating Jamaica 13-0 and advancing to the quarterfinals. In this game, Maninder Singh scored four goals. He scored goals in the 28th and 29th minutes, after his two goals in the 2nd minute. Each of the four was a field goal.
India came into this game with an aggressive mindset and scored two goals in the second minute of play. Maninder Singh scored both of these goals with precise strokes. Following that, Manjeet and Uttam Singh each scored one goal. Due to this, within the first six minutes of the game, India took a strong lead in the match by scoring 4-0.
India took an offensive approach and kept up the pressure on Jamaica's defenders even after taking the lead. Pawan Rajbhar and Gurjot Singh took advantage of this, scoring goals in the ninth and fourteenth minutes, respectively, to put the score at 6-0 at the half.
India continued to play aggressively in the second half as well. The match was won 13-0 thanks to goals from Mohammad Raheel in the 16th and 27th minute, Mandeep Mor in the 23rd and 27th minute, Manjeet in the 24th minute, and Maninder Singh in the 28th and 29th minute. With this, the Indian team advanced to the tournament's quarterfinals.
Notably, India had defeated Switzerland before losing to Egypt in their opening two Pool B matches on Sunday. The quarterfinals will be played on January 30.
