Contest between BRS, Congress and BJP
The tenure of Telangana Assembly is going to end on 16 January 2024. Assembly elections were last held here in December 2018 and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) formed the government. Chandrashekhar Rao became CM for the second time. TRS name has now become BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samiti).

Understand the politics of 4 parties of the state in 4 points

1. Chief Minister KCR is contesting elections from two places
BRS national president KCR is in the fray to become the Chief Minister for the third consecutive time. He is contesting from two assembly seats, Gajwel and Kamareddy. Strong candidates are in the fray against him on both the seats. BJP has fielded Eatala Rajendra against him in Gajwel. Meanwhile, Congress state president Revanth Reddy is in the fray from Kamareddy region.

2. BJP fielded three MPs
The BJP is contesting all 119 seats in Telangana along with its ally Janasena. The party has fielded three MPs in the state elections. BJP has made former state president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar its candidate from Karimnagar seat, Soyam Bapu, MP from Both, and Arvind Dharmapuri, MP from Korutla. Earlier, the party has used a similar experiment in MP-Rajasthan and fielded many sitting MPs.

Apart from this, T Raja Singh, the only BJP MLA in the state, also got the ticket. The party suspended him in August 2022. He had made a controversial comment about Prophet Mohammad. T Raja is the MLA from Gausmahal. BJP has again made him a candidate from this seat. On this, AIMIM Chief Owaisi had said that those who spread hatred in BJP get quick promotion. I am sure Nupur Sharma will also get blessings from PM.

3. Congress also nominated all three MPs
Congress declared its candidates on 118 out of 119 seats. The party fielded all three of its sitting MPs. Malkajgiri MP A. Revanth Reddy from Kodandal, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkata Reddy from Nalgonda and Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has been fielded from Huzurnagar.

4. Owaisi's party fielded candidates on 9 seats
Be it Lok Sabha or Assembly elections in Hyderabad district, the politics revolves around Owaisi. Owaisi's party AIMIM is contesting on 9 seats, while supporting BRS on the remaining seats. AIMIM had won 7 seats in the last elections.

BJP got only one seat in 2018 elections
In the 2018 assembly elections in Telangana, BJP got only one seat. Current Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's party TRS (the name of the party was changed from Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Bharat Rashtra Samithi in 2022) had got the maximum of 88 seats. Whereas Congress got 19 seats.

Talking about the current situation, the ruling party currently has 101 MLAs out of 119 assembly seats. Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM has 7 MLAs, while Congress has five, BJP has three, AIFB has one, one nominated and one independent MLA.

Influence of Muslims on 45 assembly seats of the state
Muslim voters constitute 13 percent of the total population of 3.17 crore in Telangana. Muslims have significant influence on about 45 assembly seats out of 119 assembly seats in the state. Of these, 10 seats in Hyderabad have between 30 to 50 percent Muslims, while 20 seats have between 15 percent to 30 percent. Apart from this, there are between 10 to 15 percent Muslim voters on 15 seats. Out of 119, Congress has fielded six Muslims and BRS has fielded four Muslims.

In 2018, only 6 out of 140 women candidates won
There were 1821 candidates in the fray in the elections held in 2018. The number of women candidates in this was 140. Of these, 99 candidates were general, while 26 were from SC and 15 ST categories, but in the last assembly elections, only 6 out of 140 female candidates had won.

K has been CM for 10 years. Chandrashekhar Rao
Telangana was formed on 2 June 2014. Since then, two assembly elections have been held here in a decade and for the last 10 years, CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao-led party BRS (earlier TRS) is in power. The then Congress government had an important contribution in creating the state, but after that it could never come to power.
