The political tussle started even before the next year's Lok Sabha elections. In the past, the opposition parties had named the Grand Alliance India (I.N.D.I.A.) against the NDA. About 26 opposition parties had agreed to this. But just a few days after the formation of this Grand Alliance India, the brawl started. Top Congress leaders in Punjab have objected to this. Congress does not want any kind of alliance with AAP in Punjab. State party chief Amarinder Singh Waring has been accusing AAP of targeting his party leaders. Waring says that former Punjab Deputy CM OP Soni was forcibly put in jail. He said that how can we have an alliance with the party which is doing this to their leaders.

State party chief Amarinder Singh further said that Congress is continuing to fight against AAP in Punjab on several issues. The AAP government targeted our leaders and put them in jails. We cannot tolerate this. He said that we never complained, but now they have arrested our Deputy CM (East) OP Soni. Congress leaders say that the party whose government has jailed five former ministers including their former Deputy Chief Minister, how can they have an alliance with it.

The Akali Dal has termed the AAP-Congress opposition alliance as an 'unholy marriage'. He says that his fight against the AAP government in Punjab is going on in many cases. He declared that there could be no compromise between Congress and AAP in Punjab. He said that we are still the main opposition party in Punjab and we will continue to fight against the AAP government on public issues.
