Now you will be able to identify unwanted calls coming on your phone. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI has sent a recommendation to the Department of Telecommunications. It is suggested to have the caller's name displayed on the phone (also known as Calling Name Presentation, or CNAP). The caller will then be able to determine whether or not he wants to continue talking. However, this will also mean the end of business for apps like True Caller.

A consultation paper on spam calls was released by TRAI last year. According to TRAI's recommendation, the caller's name as entered into his form will be the only one displayed during the call. If a business accepts connections in bulk, the caller will only see the company's name.

According to the survey, 60 per cent of phone holders in the country receive at least three unwanted calls every day.
