The actor suffered a fatal shark attack near Goat Island on the afternoon of Sunday, June 23, after which he died.
Tamayo Perry worked as an ocean safety lifeguard and surfing instructor. He was attacked by a shark near Goat Island, located near Oahu in Hawaii. A person witnessing the actor dialed 911 to notify authorities, and responding officers tended to him to bring him ashore on a jet ski, but he was pronounced dead on the beach.
According to reports, Shark had been bitten by more than one shark; his body showed many bite marks. Upon the actor's death, officials from Ocean Safety posted shark warnings in the area. Tamayo Perry was a North Shore lifeguard and started his career with the Ocean Safety Department in July 2016.
The actor is perhaps best known for his starring role as a pirate playing opposite Disney in the 2011 action franchise film 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides', the fourth feature installment. Other stars included Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, and Ian McShane. Kurt Leger, acting chief of Honolulu Ocean Safety, issued this statement: "Tamayo Perry was a well-liked lifeguard by everybody. He was very famous on the North Shore. A professional surfer known worldwide." He further stated, "Tamayo had a wonderful personality and loved everyone as much as people loved him. Our thoughts are with Tamayo's family and the entire Lifeguard Ohana."
