The player we are talking about is Sri Lankan star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who was in danger of being banned from all the league matches of the T20 World Cup 2024. After this move of Sri Lanka, now no one can stop them from playing the T20 World Cup.

All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga mistreated the umpire on March 18 during the third One-Day International between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan team management and captain Kusal Mendis were notified of this by the ICC. Whatever transpired thereafter, it is obvious that it was all a part of a well-planned plan to prevent Hasaranga from being prohibited from the T20 World Cup.

Hasaranga and everyone else were aware that mistreating the umpire would result in a ban. Because he has already been suspended from two T20 International matches. Five demerit points were already on his record. It was likely that he would receive three additional demerit points after the Ghazi incident. If this had happened, he would have had 4 suspension points in his account and in such a situation he would have been banned for two Tests or 4 white ball matches.

After the abuse incident, late on the night of 18 March, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and Hasaranga announced their return from Test retirement. With this, he got a place in the test team. On March 19, the ICC said it would take action against Hasaranga and he has been suspended for the next two Test matches as punishment for breaking Article 2.13 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Now he can play all the matches of the T20 World Cup.
