South Korea, America and Japan conducted trilateral military air exercise, these warplanes including B-52 took part
The promotion of military exercises with Japan is a sensitive issue in South Korea as many people still hold resentment against Japan's brutal colonial rule on the Korean Peninsula. However North Korea's growing nuclear program has prompted South Korea's conservative President Yun Suk Yeol to strengthen cooperation with Japan.

In view of the increasing nuclear threat from North Korea, the air forces of America, South Korea, and Japan conducted trilateral military air exercises for the first time on Sunday. South Korea's Air Force said that this happened near the Korean Peninsula. This comes as part of a previously proposed program to enhance defense cooperation between the three countries as well as enhance joint response capability.
America's nuclear-capable B-52 bomber aircraft as well as warplanes from South Korea and Japan participated in the exercise. South Korea and Japan are key US allies in Asia. All three countries have conducted trilateral maritime exercises involving anti-submarine or missile defense exercises, but Sunday was the first time that trilateral air exercises were conducted.
