Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday announced immediate assistance of Rs 3448 crore to flood-affected Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He said that arrangements are being made to provide immediate assistance of Rs 3448 crore under the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), which also includes a share of the Central Government. He conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday announced immediate assistance of Rs 3,448 crore to flood-affected Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Shivraj reached Telangana after reviewing the flood situation in Andhra Pradesh.

Arrangements were being made to provide immediate assistance of Rs 3,448 crore under SDRF, including the share of the Central Government. For the next crop, fertilizers and seeds would be provided to the farmers, said the government.

He assured the farmers that the Central Government would provide suitable compensation after assessing the crop damage. The Agriculture Minister conducted an aerial survey of crop damage in flood-affected areas of Meenavalu, Peddagopavaram, Mannur, and Kattleru in Telangana. He met people in Khammam.

The Andhra Pradesh government said that the Engineering Task Force of the Indian Army is working on a war footing to close the cracks in the broken embankments of the Budameru River in Vijayawada. The flood caused by the breaks in the embankments had caused havoc. According to IANS, relief material was distributed to the people in the flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh.
