This is the 23rd attack on merchant ships in the last one and a half month.
The US military's US Central Command said in a post shared on social media that the missiles were launched by Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen. US Central Command said this was the 23rd attack since November 19 that Houthi rebels have carried out on international shipping routes. Israel-Hamas Houthi rebels have been attacking merchant ships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea since the war began. Houthi rebels are carrying out these attacks in support of Gaza. Especially Israeli ships are the target of Houthi rebels.

A Singapore flagged ship was attacked
The US military said its warships USS Gravely and USS Laboon had received a call for help from a Singapore-flagged merchant ship. Responding to this call, both the warships reached the Red Sea and foiled the attack on the merchant ship and evacuated it safely from the Red Sea. The ship which was attacked was from Denmark.

The international shipping route under attack carries 12 percent of the world's total trade. This is the reason why navies of many countries along with America are providing security to this route, which also includes the Indian Navy. The Indian Navy has deployed five of its warships in the Arabian Sea and Red Sea areas to prevent attacks on merchant ships.
