Preparations to arrest B. S. Yediyurappa in this case, Karnataka Police reached High Court for warrant
B. S. Yediyurappa: A writ petition was filed in the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday regarding sexual crimes against former Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa and demanding the arrest of Yediyurappa. The victim's brother filed a writ petition claiming that the police did not take any action despite months having passed since the complaint was filed against the senior leader.

B. S. Yediyurappa, former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader was issued a non-bailable warrant under the POCSO Act on Thursday by a Bengaluru court. After Yediyurappa failed to appear for questioning on Wednesday, the CID's SIT in Karnataka petitioned the fast-track court for an arrest warrant. Yediyurappa has requested additional time to participate in the investigation.
According to a close aide, the 81-year-old BJP leader is currently in Delhi and will join the investigation once he returns. According to the police, BJP Parliamentary Party member Yeddyurappa has been charged under the POCSO Act and IPC section 354A (sexual harassment). The 17-year-old girl's mother filed a complaint against Yeddyurappa for sexual harassment of her daughter.
The mother said that the incident took place in February this year at the BJP leader's residence in Dollar Colony, Bengaluru. The victim's brother filed a petition in the court last week alleging that the case was registered on March 14, but there has been no progress in the investigation. The petitioner has demanded the arrest and interrogation of Yeddyurappa. After the case was registered, state DGP Alok Mohan handed over the case to the CID in April.
Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa denied the allegations and said that he would fight the legal battle in the case. He has also filed a petition regarding the cancellation of the case and stopping the investigation. Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister and Congress leader G. Parameshwara has said that former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has been booked under POCSO by the CID in the case of sexual abuse of a minor girl. Also, a notice has been sent to him to appear for questioning. If needed, he can also be arrested.
A chargesheet will be filed against him by June 15. His statement will be recorded and he will have to be presented before the court. These are all legal procedures and the department will follow them. In April, the CID had collected Yeddyurappa's voice sample after summoning him. In this case, the government has appointed SPP Ashok H. Nayak on behalf of the CID.
