Heritage: India is hosting the meeting of the World Heritage Committee for the first time. It will be held from 21 to 31 July at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The World Heritage Committee meets once a year.

The 46th session of the World Heritage Committee will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Sunday evening. On this occasion, the PM will address the gathering. A PMO official said on Saturday that UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azole will also join the inaugural ceremony. India is hosting the meeting of the World Heritage Committee for the first time. The session will be from 21 to 31 July in the Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The World Heritage Committee meets once a year.
Items on the agenda include the examination of proposals for the nomination of new sites to the World Heritage List, state of the conservation reports of 124 existing World Heritage properties, international assistance, and the use of the World Heritage Fund, among others.
In excess of 2000 international and national delegates from more than 150 countries have participated. There will also be a World Heritage Committee meeting alongside a forum on World Heritage Young Professionals and World Heritage Site Managers.
Other exhibitions will also be conducted at Bharat Mandapam, besides these, to showcase India's culture. Some of the artifacts brought back to the country would be showcased at a Return of Treasures exhibition. So far, more than 350 artifacts have been brought back. An 'Incredible India' exhibition has also been planned to project the country's multifaceted rich cultural heritage, ancient civilization, geographical diversity, tourist sports destinations, and modern developments in the field of information technology and infrastructure.
