Nawaz was sentenced to jail in the corruption case, but Nawaz went to London for treatment and has been in London since then. Nawaz's last term as Pakistan's PM ended in 2017. Imran Khan came to power in Pakistan. After some time something happened to Nawaz which he would not have even thought of. The court of Pakistan had imposed a lifetime ban on Nawaz to contest elections to become the PM of Pakistan again. But now Nawaz has got relief from that ban.
Recently, Pakistan's Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar told that by amending the country's electoral law, the ban on Nawaz not being able to contest elections for life has been abolished.
Due to the current situation in Pakistan, there is no possibility of holding general elections soon. But the exercise to bring Nawaz back into the politics of Pakistan has already started.
