Pakistan and the IMF mission will discuss 1.1 billion dollars during their meeting on March 14–18
Pakistan's newly elected Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has agreed to the accord and is talking with the International Monetary Fund about a new loan programme. According to ARY News, Islamabad will hold talks with the international lender regarding the final tranche of USD 1.1 billion under the SBA programme.
It is expected that an IMF team will arrive in Pakistan on Wednesday to conduct an economic assessment of the $3 billion stand-by agreement (SBA). This discussion, according to sources, is scheduled for March 14–18.
Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan's recently elected finance minister, has accepted the agreement and is in discussions with the IMF regarding a new loan programme. As per ARY News, discussions concerning the final tranche of USD 1.1 billion under the SBA programme will take place between Islamabad and the international lender.
Moreover, Pakistan has already achieved the targets set by the IMF for the second review, sources have informed. During the talks, Pakistan will also simultaneously request a new deal under the 36-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF). Sources said Pakistan may request the IMF for a new loan of $6-8 billion.
