Just a few days ago, the Supreme Court removed former Thailand PM Srettha Thavisin from his post due to ethical violations. Actually, Srettha had given a place in his cabinet to a person who had served a jail sentence for bribing a judge and Srettha had to pay the price of this decision by losing his PM post. After Shrestha was removed from the post of PM, Thailand's populist Pheu Thai Party leader and businesswoman Paetongtarn Shinawatra was chosen as the PM candidate and today, Friday, 16 August, she has become the new PM of Thailand.
Paetongtarn has become the youngest PM in the history of Thailand. She is only 37 years old and will turn 38 on 21 August. Paetongtarn is the daughter of Thailand's former PM and businessman Thaksin Shinawatra and is also the second female PM of Thailand. Earlier, her aunt Yingluck Shinawatra was the first female PM of Thailand.
